About the Oregon Home Inspection Guide

Who runs the Oregon Home Inspection Guide, how it is sourced, and how to correct it. An independent reference, not an inspection company.

What this site is

The Oregon Home Inspection Guide is an independent reference on residential inspection in Oregon. It covers 88 places, rules and inspection types, built from 723 extracted fields.

It does not perform inspections, and it does not list or recommend inspectors. It explains what an Oregon inspection must cover, what it excludes by rule, and where the permit record lives.

How it is sourced

Numeric fields trace to the agency page or the rule text. Statute citations link to the Oregon Legislature and the Secretary of State, never to a third-party republisher.

A fact is published only when it passes five checks. It needs a value, a source, a citation-grade source status, a verification date on the fact itself, and no veto from its domain status. 428 of 723 fields currently clear that gate.

Where research found that no record exists, the gap is published as a gap. Nothing is filled in to clear a row.

How to correct it

Corrections are published with the date they were made and the source that prompted them. The log is public on the methodology page.

Send a correction to [email protected]. Name the page, the claim, and the source that contradicts it.

Who writes it

The guides carry a named author and a publication date. Two people write and maintain them.
